Physical Education and sport premium for primary schools.

We are required to publish on our school’s website:

  • The amount of primary PE and sport premium received
  • A full breakdown of how it has been spent (or will be spent)
  • Details of the impact of the funding on pupils’
  • PE and sport participation and attainment
  • Details of how the improvements will be sustainable in the future
  • The percentage of pupils within your year 6 cohort who can:
    • Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
    • Use a range of strokes effectively
    • Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

Overall aims

To increase how physically active all children are. Children should understand the importance of PE and physical health.

  • Break and lunchtimes have been developed (by implementing the principals of OPAL) to ensure that a range of and physical activates are on offer every day.
  • Sports leaders and specialist PE teachers have ensured that a range of organised sports are on offer to all pupils through out the week, during
    break and lunchtimes.
  • Fitness assessments are carried out termly and shared with parents.
  • Support is offered to parents with children, who have been identified with below expected fitness levels.
  • Target children (identified from fitness assessments) are offered places at after school sports clubs.
  • Pupil premium children receive financial support to attend after school
    sports clubs.
  • PE lead has delivered assemblies to all children on the importance of health and fitness.

  • Training or CPD to support inclusive PE sport and physical activity provision
  • Supporting participation in extra-curricular opportunities or competitions
  • Specialist coaches to assist children with SEND
  • Specialist equipment and resources for children with long-term medical conditions.

Activity 2:

Improving girls’ access to PE lessons or access to extra-curricular sport and physical activities

  • Supporting participation in extra-curricular opportunities or competitions
  • Specialist focused activities for girls
  • Specialist equipment and resources for girls
  • Community club engagement or pathways for girls.

Activity 3:

Improving opportunities in sport and physical activities for disadvantaged pupils.

  • Before school sport and physical activity groups – free of charge for all pupils
  • After school sport and physical activity groups – free of charge for all pupils
  • Subsidised sport and physical activity clubs for disadvantaged pupils
  • Stronger parental engagement eg: school assemblies
  • Stronger parental engagement eg: leaflets and home support
  • Community club engagement or pathways

Impact:

  • An increase in pupils’ attainment in PE
  • An increase in pupils’ physical activity levels
  • An increase in the number of pupils participating in school sport
  • An increase in the number of pupils participating in extra-curricular activities
  • An increase in staff completing training and CPD
  • An increase in number of staff participating in extra-curricular activities and school sports
  • An increase in pupils’ attainment in swimming and water safety
