“Children in the early years have a positive start to their education. The newly improved outdoor area is used effectively in order to develop learning, including children’s early writing skills and mathematical knowledge.” (Ofsted  September 2023)

Children in Nursery follow activities outlined in the Foundation Stage Curriculum which charts key developmental points in a child’s learning.

We have a 100 place nursery, 50 in the morning 8:45am-11:45am and 50 in the afternoon 12:30pm-3:30pm we admit pupils in the term after their 3rd birthday.

• children born between 1 January and 31 March become eligible in April (Summer Term)

• children born between 1 April and 31 August become eligible in September (Autumn Term)

• children born between 1 September and 31 December become eligible in January (Spring Term)

We have a number of extended day nursery places available. Parents can purchase additional hours so that children can attend from 8.45am to 3.30pm. These are offered on a first come first served basis and places are secured with a deposit. We also accept children who qualify for 30 hour funding.

Choosing the right school for your child is a big decision, so we encourage you to join an open day, or request a visit through the school office, so that you can see for yourself how we provide an excellent start for your child’s educational journey.

To support your child to settle in to our welcoming nursery, we provide pre-start workshops for parents, stay and learn sessions. These will be provided once you have accepted the place.

As a result, pupils benefit from consistent approaches to learning and practising phonics. In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

Children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 start primary school in September 2027.

The application process opens 1 September 2026 and you must apply using the eAdmissions website by 15 January 2027. Late applications will only be considered after the national offer day. 

National offer day for on time applicants is 16 April 2027. If you apply online, you will get an email in the evening confirming the school that has been offered. 

The deadline for parents to respond to offers made on National Offer Day is 30 April 2027. If you do not respond to your offer the place may be withdrawn and offered to another child.

Sometimes parents and carers decide to move their child to another school. Families also move into the area from elsewhere in the UK or from overseas. This type of admission is known as ‘in-year’ admissions.

We have a thorough induction programme for new pupils, to ensure your child will be welcomed into our school community and settle in quickly. We make sure the right support is in place, so your child will thrive.

Durdans Park staff have forged strong connections with our local high schools, to secure smooth transition for your child.

Applications must be made directly to the council that you are living in at the time of application, regardless of the borough which the school is in. The deadline for applying for high school is 31 October 2026. Applications received after this date are late and will not be considered until after national offer day.

The national offer day for on time applicants is 1 March 2027. If you apply online you will receive an email in the evening on 2 March confirming the school that has been offered. You will need to confirm whether you are accepting or declining the place that has been offered by 15 March 2027.
